A bcba reads data. They hardly spend time with the child. Progress is on paper. These trials are set up in a way so that the child cannot fail. If they fail, they get on the BI/BT to make sure they are showing successful data. These kids are not learning as much as the data shows. And they most definitely are not following these kids as adults to see how much was retained.

THANK YOU TEMPLE!!!! It's removal removed us! To have it moved back into an unclear bucket all because of a witch hunt about Dr. Asperger. I have always viewed my brain as different and a gift. It is not a disorder but for the DSM gods to ignore Sir Simon Baron Cohen's science and say there isn't any scientific basis for it ends research dollars and recognition. The Insurance Companies won. God bless you Temple from here in Arizona, too!

So glad that I found your channel! Feels like I couldn’t get any answers regarding my autistic teenage daughter ! She did attend Aba therapy for 6 years, seems like she developed a behavior that wasn’t present before, cannot stop the rage that she has caused by this type of therapy. Seems like post COVID, she doesn’t want to return back to school, developed regression, OCD, aggressive behaviors and severe anxiety. Been struggling with finding the right therapist who could help me with this, without constantly pushing medications that don’t work for her. If anyone has experience or suggestions, please let me know! Thanks for your support!

As an ABA Survivor, if you "allow" the concerns of the Autistic person through this is Occupational Therapy not ABA, ABA should be banned with the body who does it, disbanded. An Apology would be nice, but then saying sorry and going under would be better. The Challenge of raising us, one, there is pages for help what stimming is etc. two, please know you are not working with a Neurotypical, and you are working with a different brain type the less you guys do the "its polite" and recognise we are different and need a different approaches the sooner your struggles disappear. I am fed up of either being invisible or being told off for things i don't know how to do better because of you NTs saying "you should know" when we don't. be the change and please stop being the oppressive majority (great changes have happened in UK, like allowing stimming but we have a long way to go)

This is the first time that anyone has provided a reasonable explanation for how I have existed in such isolation. Being highly functional is one of the many reasons that I’ve gone undiagnosed and misunderstood. I’ve described my self as a rainbow child being on the spectrum . All forms of energy can easily overwhelm me. Physically I shut down with lights out and a weighted blanket to reset. This a is real possibility.

My son started to have serious irritability ,and thinking neat problems when with 8 years he became vegan(excuse me for my very poor vocabulary),We "solved" it with many supplements, many of them of animal sources,When he was 11 we conviced him that we have canine tooth for a good reason, showed him autists that were having problems like him and now his much better.Everyone needs meat, but autistic people seems to have even more problems, because in a way or another, the vast majority of them are already picky eaters, and their neurotransmiters are already compromised more than ordinary people, they don´t need vegans to complicate it even more.If you know any vegetable that have enough Carnosine,creatine,taurine,fenilanine,carnitine,minerals,b12,b6,coline give me a seed of it,people today change their Iphone every year,TheY don´t care about another child humans working on African Mines, but they´re afraid of pigs being killed in 15 seconds,I´m against animal cruelty for nothing, but nature made us to eat vegetables, fruits and meat,If I´m in front of a hungry lion I don´t think it will be vegan,It is nature.I´m myself were "half vegan" in the eight´s for religious reasons,I did not eat pigs, cow, and chicken only eggs and fish(my father was Kardecist) it were the worst ten years in my life, even though I supplemented B Complex, unfortunatelly by that time we did not have the information we have today. We are in a time that the world is asking for ways for people not to be hungry, and vegans think ee should live to buy expensive supplements to live an artificial live,I read yesterday some vegans arguing if it was honest to use earth worms for composting.LOL

Everything you said is worthless bc it goes against scientific consensus. You can be perfectly healthy autistic vegan, like i am. I even struggled with underweight my whole life. It didnt change at all when i went vegan, actually my health improved bc i educated myself a lot more about nutrition. Maybe you should have done some research as well, then you could have respected your sons wishes. Or is this like a very old story? Ig back in the day there was not a lot of research available. But now is. Do your research

I hate how confident ABA therapists are in the science, the fact is the evidence is mediocre at best. The majority of the literature is from case studies which may be useful for clinicians at an individual level they can be hardly used to argue for the efficacy of ABA. When it comes to actual clinical trials most are unblinded and not randomized. I believe to date there was only one actual RCT, and every meta-analysis or critical review I've read on the topic points to a plethora of confounds. I'm not saying ABA might not doesn't work but I wish ABA practitioners would stop misrepresenting the evidence especially given the harm ABA has done to autistic people in the past.
